Share God’s Love and Serve with Us

We believe that God created and loves all people, and we are called to extend that love by meeting practical needs. Through Furniture Friends, we provide furniture and resources to individuals from all nations arriving in Northwest Arkansas.

We rely on volunteers from local evangelical churches to make this mission possible. If you or your church wants to be part of welcoming and serving our new neighbors, we’d love to have you join us.

More than furniture, a community of care

Find Your Role in Serving Others

Furniture Friends is about more than just providing furniture. We create opportunities to serve, connect, and build friendships with international students and refugees. Volunteers can help in many ways, from driving newcomers to the grocery store to assisting with furniture delivery, warehouse support, and cultural events.

One of the greatest needs for newly arrived individuals is friendship. By volunteering, you’re not just offering practical help. You’re building relationships and welcoming neighbors into the community. Whether you want to carry furniture or connect with someone from another country, there’s a place for you here.

Ways to Get Involved
  • Transport and set up furniture for newly arrived internationals or assist with apartment moves.

  • Connect with people from around the world and offer friendship in a new country.

  • Organize, clean, and prepare furniture behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

  • Pick up donated furniture, search for free items on Facebook Marketplace, or help sell pieces that can’t be used.

  • Drive international students and refugees to grocery stores and specialty markets in Northwest Arkansas.

HOW IT WORKS
  • Choose the volunteer opportunity that best fits your gifting, desires, and capacity for serving in this season of your life. (Most of our volunteers like to start out participating in a Furniture Delivery Serve Day or a Grocery Transportation Serve Day.)

  • When you register for a Furniture Delivery or Grocery Market Serve Day, consider bringing a friend, your small group, or a whole group from your church along! (We need groups of 12-20 volunteers with 2-5 trucks to make each Furniture Delivery Serve Day happen.)

  • Our Serve Days begin at 9am with a brief orientation and equipping element on what to do/how to do it. Our volunteers then head out to serve (either delivering furniture to student apartments or driving students/refugees to grocery stores and back). We return for a brief time of debriefing before finishing around 1pm.

  • The best part of Serve Days is getting to meet potential new friends from around the world! Our volunteers and the international students and refugee families we serve often go on to become friends after the initial connection through Serve Days. Engage in on-going relationship and grow community with new friends from around the world!

Many internationals arrive with nothing to furnish their homes. Your donated furniture provides not only comfort but a sense of belonging.

WHERE TO DONATE

 FAQS

Get answers to common questions about international furniture requests, donations, and how you can help.

  • If you have a friend with a truck you can borrow or another vehicle large enough to fit the items, feel free to drop them off at either of our Donation Station spots any time of the day. If you can’t do that, please contact us at info@furniturefriends.co or (479) 397-1982, and we will do our best to arrange a furniture pick-up for you if possible.

  • We need gently-used, apartment-sized furniture (see list above). All donated items go right out to international students (loaning it for their years here in the US) and refugee families. A few spots or some evidence of wear are not bad, but if the items are no longer usable, we won’t be able to pass them along. If you aren’t sure, you can always send us a photo of the item at info@furniturefriends.co or (479) 397-1982 and one of our team can give you exact feedback.

  • Absolutely! Please let us know which items you plan to donate, with a picture. Once we confirm we received that item at our Donations Warehouse, we will email you a tax receipt.

  • Our Furniture Delivery Serve Days begin at 9am and last until 1pm. This timeframe allows you to experience a short orientation at the beginning of the day where you’ll receive valuable equipping information for the day and beyond. You’ll be teamed up into truck groups, go deliver items to students who requested them, stay for a chat if invited in, do more deliveries, and then return to the warehouse for a debrief time at the end of the day. You’ll be done in time to go grab a late lunch with your friends and enjoy the rest of your afternoon.

Our Grocery Transportation Serve Days are usually about the same time commitment. We meet for orientation at 9am, go pick up international friends at 9:30, drive to the stores they need to go to, and then drop them back at home latest by 12:30pm.

  • We have some type of Serve Day almost every Saturday. Furniture Delivery Serve Days happen every Saturday in August and January, and then at least once a month the rest of the year. (We usually have enough requests to necessitate Delivery Serve Days every other week at a minimum.) We are currently offering Grocery Transportation Serve Days the first Saturday of every month this Spring Semester.
